When you think Greece reaches rock bottom...

The basic principles of a nation are also undermined. In the middle of the worst recession in Greece's living history, were the poor and middle class have their income severely curtailed, the most honoured warship in Greek History was given (I am guessing without a fee or a very limited fee but many underhand "contributions") for the wedding party of a rich shipping magnate.

The armoured Cruiser "Georgios Averof" was the key to victory in the Agean in the Balkan wars, ensuring that the Land forces could continue their advance in securing modern Greece without fear of naval re-supply. To honour its role all ships salute the ship as they enter harbour:

I am not a nationalist, and many others who are not nationalist seem to agree that this is a very low blow. Even Stathis Panagiotopoulos, not known for his liking of authority, has found this contemptible. It shows that even at the worst of times, there are different rules for the rich than for the poor - undermining the government's effort to convince the average Greek that the rich will pay their share of the burden for the upcoming years of hardship.

The warship Averoph has such a rich and important history that one can feel appalled when one sees it used in a party. Someone would then wonder if the Parthenon would also be used in such fashion if one wanted too.

But in general, I think this is the wrong subject for the Greek society to focus upon. It probably gives people another opportunity to hate rich people and it will be used by stupid journalist of trash newsnations like Star, to focus public attention upon and to give them ratings.

While, I find that there are upsites to the public outrage since the Greek elite have destroyed their country, on the other hand The Greek population should not forget how they also destroyed their country and shut on their history.

Also naval ship owners have less responsibility's as a group IMO, than the Greek Politicians or the average Greek for the destruction that Greece is facing.

What I want to say, is that I imagine the "KKE" and "PAME" initiatives against Foreign tourism and foreign capital and investment which were done to destroy the Greek economy by Crazy fanatics.

Those Crazy fanatics that destroyed Greece, are numerous in Greece and should not be further encouraged. Rather things should change and they should see economy through objective criteria so they should change things.

So... Blaming corrupted Politicians Good. Being ignorant for how peoples not objective and "laikistikes" approaches have destroyed the economy is bad. I consider every one not objective person who is laikistis as responsible for what is happening.

Some outrage is understandable but this is not the subject to focus upon. They instead should focus on recognising their and their politicians mistakes and how to fix them. Objectively since there is objectivity in economics as there is fanaticism and stupidity.

I agree that in the scale of things
this is not the biggest problem. But in my mind it is just one of many sings of completely broken social cohesion. That is what worries me - it will make all other issues, including those you pointed out yourself- all that harder to solve.

I would not mind if there was a way were there would be a payment that would go to eliminate the national debt - its that it all happened with envelopes and handshakes that bother me. I hate the anti-foreigner outburst of the Greeks too.
